Black Friday Thoughts (calm before the storm)

    By admin | November 26, 2008

As I have said before, I am not allowed to construct my gameplan until Thursday (Thanksgiving).  But I have been eyeballing some things on www.blackfriday.info and I’d be lying if my brain wasn’t churning even a little.

If you are planning to embark on the Extravaganza that is Black Friday I will share a few things that I have learned that I would want you to know:

    1. Have a Partner.  This is very important.  Someone you can trust and preferably has Jack Bauer capabilities with the wingspan of Lebron James all rolled into one.  Also a partner makes this event very fun.
    2. HAVE CELL PHONES TURNED ON. This is incredibly important. You and your partner WILL have to split up in a store (possibly even split up in a shopping center) and there WILL be times when you have to communicate vital, pertinent, state of national security type information (such as they brought out another stack of that external hard drive you wanted).
    3. Know what your target is in each store. Do not go into a store uncertain if you are going to buy the target or not.  There is no time.  You have to adapt, react, re-adapt, act.  Write that down.
    4. Don’t get down, have a backup plan.  You likely won’t be able to get everything on your targeted list.  But that’s okay.  There are other stores with similar products and deals.  I remember last year the first store we went to was a huge bust…we didn’t play the cards right.  I was so down, thinking that Black Friday was over…time to go to Chick-fil-a for chicken biscuits cause there is nothing to purchase that I wanted.  Little did I know by adapting our targets and re-adjusting our plan it was the best Black Friday ever.
    5. Use your comrades.  Black Friday has a stereotype of everyone bumping into each other, pushing, shoving, just to save $3 on a pack of CD-R’s.  While, this may happen, that is not my experience.  In fact, a point that I try to make is if I see someone is holding something that I am targeting, I don’t waste time finding it myself, I ask them.  Everyone is usually very nice and as long as you ask politely people will give you some very helpful Black Friday tips.

Well, thats what I got.  I am looking forward to it.  I have been in communication with my team and we are still in the Boiler Room.  I will let you know what the outcome is.

    Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
