Three billion people live on less than $2 per day while 1.3 billion get by on less than $1 per day. Seventy percent of those living on less than $1 per day are women.
It is important to zoom out and gain perspective on you and your wealth. Please do not hear me wrong and think that I have pointed this stuff out because I believe wealth is evil. I don’t believe that and don’t think that is true. However, I absolutely believe the desire to be wealthy is.
Paul addresses it in 1 Timothy 6, “the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.”
This is clear.
God may call you to have money; God may call you to give it away and have none; but God does not call us to hoard it and put our trust and security in it.
I am able to say this confidently because it contradicts scripture and God will not call you to something that contradicts scripture (if you think he is telling you to do that it is probably not God, it is probably something you ate).
Be in tune and seek what God is telling you to do on a grand scale. But make sure you keep your perspective big (globally). God can speak to us in many ways. One way He speaks to me is through what is going on in other people and in other parts of the world.
