Put it on Auto Pilot

I am a strong advocate of ING Direct. The reason why is because I personally use it and love it.
Yesterday I had a financial sit-in with someone where I was helping with their personal financial picture and it dawned on me. “Put it on autopilot.”
Personal finances is just as much personal as it is finance. We don’t save because (just to be bluntly honest) we are lazy much of the time. ING Direct has a great feature where you can auto pull a certain amount of money into savings each month. Doing this with paying a car payment to yourself is so helpful.
Eventually you know that “payment” is coming and you make sure you account for it. It is not a surprise, you know its coming because you have made it automatic and regular. There isn’t an option for us to allow our “human-ness” to interefere.
This is a great tool for savings. Pay yourself now and EARN interest rather than make payments to someone else and PAY interest.
