Right Side of Holiday Spending
By admin | August 29, 2008
I have never officially accomplished this. I have thought about trying and I have half-heartedly tried but I still have never done it. I am talking about buying a specific hot item and selling it on ebay to turn a big profit. It is normally the best idea to do this around the holiday season.
It seems like this happens for every gaming system when they first come out and usually a hot kids toy this Christmas. Hustler thinks the hot item this year will be Elmo Live which is expected to retail for $59.99 bucks. His projections say it will be around $150-200 on ebay the first few weeks after it comes out.
If you are wondering if I’d be against people doing this, I am not really. In all honesty I think it is more fascinating than anything else. It is the effects of the supply and demand curve shift that we all learned in micro-economics. This is also a luxury item (definitely not a need) and chances are a month or two later you can get it at regular price. So, I don’t really have a huge problem with it.
With that being said, I usually do not get into these kind of things but have always entertained the idea. If you are the guy who actually goes for it:
Few ways to pre-order right now:
- Order through Amazon for $65.99 Elmo Live
. Limit two with free shipping.
- Order through Walmart for $59.88 Elmo Live. Limit two per order with $8.97 shipping.
Order through Fisher Price for $60 Elmo Live. Limit six per order with $9.99 shipping.
- Order through E-Toys for $69.99 Elmo Live. Limit two per order.
- Order through KB-toys for $69.99 Elmo Live. Limit two per order.
- Be on the lookout for Toy r Us, Target, and allboardtoys.com.
Hustler says to put it up the first few weeks after the release date when it’s crazy while people are scrambling to get it and will outbid each other on Ebay.
If you can scoop up 10 of these guys and make $1500, that is not a bad 5-6 hrs worth of work.
